Coreena Suares
Editor, Co-Founder, NewsMeter,
Hyderabad, Telangana

Growing up as a fauji kid, seeing parents going to war and returning as heroes was enough for her to don the uniform.  But her Mum didn't allow her to join the NDA.  Therefore, journalism came in handy.  For her, journalism is ‘Chasing-the-story-behind-the-story’. After working in Television and Print for nearly 10 years, She plunged into the digital realm in 2019. And there was no looking back.    She began her career as an ‘English news anchor’ in 2011. But she wanted to be a foot soldier to report from the ground. A year later She joined Deccan Chronicle- a South India-based leading English daily. Enter 2019 and India came to the brink of war following the Pulwama terror attack in Kashmir in which 40 paramilitary soldiers were killed. She was among 30 senior journalists selected by the Defense Ministry to visit the Line of Control and have a firsthand account of the tension on the borders. A year later, ‘US Department of State’ selected her for the prestigious `Edward R. Murrow Program’ for investigative journalists. Outside Journalism, Travel and pets are what make her happy. She spends most of my time with her pet Denver and loves to watch documentaries.
